A lot actually … let me explain …
I have been noticing something very interesting lately about internet marketing, and where we are all headed.
It’s a little thing called “Web 2.0.”
Now, I am sure you have heard that term before … but let me explain exactly what I am referring to.
Before Web 2.0
Before web 2.0, and user generated content … people bought more on emotion. (I know people still buy on emotion, but let me explain my point here.)
They would read a good sale’s letter and buy… plain and simple.
If the offer was good enough, you would get a sale.
For the most part… nobody had to know who was behind the product, or what type of customer service your got when you bought… you just bought.
But now…
After Web 2.0
It is getting harder to “cold sell” anybody on your products.
We are so consumed now with “product reviews” and knowing EVERYTHING about a product before we buy.
Take Jeff Walker for example, and the release of Product Launch Formula 2.0
Shortly after PLF 2.0 was announced there were hundreds of posts about it all over the internet.
We got emails about it, saw blog posts, and watched videos all about Jeff Walker’s PLF 2.0.
We got to see “Web 2.0 Marketing” in it’s purest form.
You see… people wanted to know about the PLF 2.0. There was “buzz” all over the internet about this new product that was “changing it all.”
Now because the first Product Lauch Formula really was a kick ass product, it helped to cultivate a mass movement of PLF enthusiasts. Like never before in history … we saw an almost “cult-like” following for this new product.
Why was this?
Becuase of Web 2.0 Marketing.
There were literally thousands of people talking about PLF 2.0. Hundres of videos, hundreds of blog posts, and hundreds of reviews.
Now… what if the PLF 2.0 wasn’t really that great?
What if the Product Launch Formula actually SUCKED, and Jeff just generated all that “buzz” to make a quick buck. (It Doesn’t Suck … I know Jeff personally, and his Product Launch Formula Rocks!) … but just imagine what if it did …
Well… I think you know what would have happened.
Jeff Walker would not be nearly as successful as he is right now. His company would actually probably be hurting right now… instead of experiencing HUGE success.
But the sad reality is … So many entrepreneurs and internet marketers are doing the exact OPPOSITE of what Jeff Walker is doing.
They are hyping up products and services that actually SUCK.
They are selling stuff online, just to make a quick buck, and are not realizing the actual implications that this new marketing realm (Web 2.0 Marketing) is actually bringing about.
People are connected more than ever now, and your days of the “quick dollar” and “crappy products” are slowly coming to an end.
First, unlike never before, you can literally catapult you or your brand into an instant success online.
With the rise in online videos, blogs, and high speed internet… people are connecting, and they are connecting faster than ever!
If you have a great product, it is extremely easy to get people talking about it.
BUT … with this advance in Web 2.0 Marketing, you can also run yourself out of business faster than ever.
It is becoming harder and harder to get away with Scams online.
In the past… you could hide behind a computer, sell a crappy product, and nobody would ever know you existed.
Now… with Web 2.0 … if you are trying to sell a CRAPPY product, or SCAM people … you WILL get uncovered.
People will blog about you, make videos, and tell all their friends about how much you SUCK!
Sorry … I hate to be this harsh … but it’s the truth, and I wanted to make a point here.
The internet is a fabulous medium for business, and I really recommend everybody looking into it.
BUT… you must be serious.
The secrecy of business online is slowly dwindling away, and it is getting harder and harder to “hide behind you computer.â€
With the rise in social networks, and web 2.0 sites, we are now becoming almost completely transparent.
So, take some time to really think about your business, and what you bring to the marketplace.
Is your product or service something that people would gladly share with their friends and family?
Are you proud of your product or service, and would you care if people knew you were the person behind it?
Take some time to really think about who you are, and what it is you stand for.
Realize that people are talking now, and they are talking faster than ever within their social networks.
You can quickly become the next “big thing” online, or within your niche, BUT… you can also just as quickly become obsolete.
So take some time to really think about this. People want good products, and they want excellent services.
Are you going to give it to them?

Nice post… right on man. If you’re a marketer, take notes
good post and I agree. What I want to know is how do you implement web 2.0 without taking 12 hours a day do keep up with everything?
It’s not as simple as setting up a campaign and then letting it run.

Turn-key business. Make $2k or more per week:

Wow .. I couldn’t have said this better Ryan, thank you for this post.
I hope all those truly serious read this and realize they need to change.
Thanks for posting this!
And as Bram says … take notes!

Well put! (You must have been reading my emails to Bram today!) I have been all over go2web20dotnet for the past week and even started a comic strip for my site on Bitstrips, featuring a character called “Fibro Fanny”! I love web2.0! The web is changing and only those who compete well on the new grounds will enjoy longtime success. The once prosperous peddlers who all use the same tired turn-key templates, show piles of money, unrealistic bank and paypal statements, list tons of testimonials bragging how they made 2k in a week and then have the audacity to offer me a software or ebook download for $250, (so I can do the same by peddling the same crap,) will be forced to adapt and market better quality products and adjust campaigns to an entirely different marketing trend. The ones who don’t will just fade away , (Thank GOD!) and new trends will rise. Smarter consumers means we have to work harder but I think, with more integrity and dedication. I just hope I am on the rising tide! Thanks for the post!
Ryan many time and everyday yous end me an email, and what that reality you want offer to me how to make money in internet, please give me solution for this
Hey Ryan. Great post. With the internet the way it is, it’s so easy to hear about a scam… even before the scam exists. People are way more aware these days and less trusting. I agree, the best way to sell is to gain the consumers trust first. This happens in so many ways but the best way is to prove your product is not only good, but great. I watched your video on the secret of marketing, that sometimes the best way to sell is to offer free products first. This is a great way to gain trust and prove that your products don’t suck. Thanks man.
“Nuff Said” Amen
Hey Wade, another great post - I welcome the changes and think that the marketplace will be better for those changes. Keep up the good work providing us newbies with quality marketing information… Tony
Good job Ryan, Keep up the good work, You always find the right words. To tell how it really is. And it is very true you don’t know when you are being scamed? thanks for the info, and hopefuly things will change for the better.
Great post! I agree. I feel that the market is becoming more sensitive and aware as a whole. As marketers in order to thrive in this changing market we must give our customers what they want… true quality products. Also this change to a “Web 2.0″ creates a niche within itself. Here we see customers searching the internet for trusted sources of information on the product that they a purchasing. Look at consumer reports for instance they make tons of money just telling other people what to buy and what not to buy.
Great post Ryan. Thanks for the honest straight forward information. You hit the nail in the head as always!
Well said Ryan. As a supporter of responsible and ethical marketing, I am hopeful that gradually much of the old school internet marketing methods will slowly fade away.
BTW, I stumbled it.

Ryan;
Yes it is true, and may the net become what it was intended to be,once the “Scum” have been exposed and removed.
There has been a lot of damaged done by the dishonest money hungry scammers who have made it very hard for honest people to make it on the net.
But, then again. Lots of folks wanted to get rich quick and ignored offers that would take some time, integrity and honesty to make work.
I welcome Web 2.0 and may it not become infected like the present Web.
Great post, Ryan! I agree with your post. Your post dealt with a very important issue, especially in today’s closely-connected world. It’s unfortunate that there are still lots of people out there planning to get rich without thinking of the consequences of their actions.
Tammy, I agree with your comment, it is abouy time people have more integrity and I might add more honesty. If you have a great product and are honest about what you do, you will prosper. Phil
Great post and on point, thanks Ryan.
